Rapture in Lagos as 500 HR Professionals disappear!

On Thursday December 7, 2017, 500 HR Professionals, Business Leaders and Enthusiasts disapeared from their offices to be present at the event they had all been waiting for, the 5th HR Bootcamp Conferenceheld at the prestigious Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. In line with the theme of the conference –Disruptive by Design: The Future of Work, 16 notable and engaging speakers shared with participants how technological advancements are changing the design and future of the workplace, the workforce and work itself. The conference was opened by the Founder Adora Ikwuemesi while the thought provoking Keynote Address was delivered by Mitchell Elegbe, Group Managing Director, Interswitch Group.

Speakers from Microsoft, GE, Dangote, Troyka Holdings, Coca Cola and many more were present to share fresh insight. With each speaker bringing on a different and unique perspective of what HR ought to be doing to adapt to the challenges and changes that digital disruptions present. Some speakers went beyond words to demonstrate this concept of disruption in their dressing and presentation styles.

The highly interactive sessions were followed by an out pour of questions from delegates eager to understand fully how to implement ideas shared by the speakers. Their eagerness was met by the professional skaters gliding across the hall to get the microphones to them. There was never a dull moment. It certainly wasn't all work and no play as the comedian ensured everyone let their hair down for a good laugh. Dancers entertained the audience shortly after lunch and the delegates could not get enough of the Red Carpet. It was the perfect time to network, swap contacts and take a lot of selfies! Who knew HR people could be fun.

It was also an early Christmas as our sponsors and partners came bearing gifts – Troyka, MallforAfrica, PZ Cussons, MTN, Access Women Network, Covenant University, Cars45, Taxify, Solophones and Smile Communications all made sure each participant left the conference with a goodie bag and a huge smile on their faces - after all it is a season of giving.

The corridors of the ballroom were laced with exhibitors showcasing their products and services. Quite a spread it was - from insurance solutions to software wizards; from free healthcare checks to hair grooming options. There was no doubt it was a full day of learning, networking and fun with exhibitors already booking slots for next year's event and participants asking for an extension to a 2-day event.
